MOOT

Moot take their ideas from the Manx music that they were brought up with; Gaelic songs of fishing and farming, love and loss. Their treatment of it does not remain in the folk tradition- not initially a conscious decision, just the result of drawing inspiration from somewhat eclectic record collections. Much of the creative process takes place behind the scenes, with Robert creating and arranging samples into loops for Aalin and Breesha to sing and play flute with. They look forward to the day they can afford a laptop to allow more improvisation during live performances. Moot first performed at the Yn Chruinnaght music competition in 1998, and have subsequently performed at many local music festivals and concerts. They are keen to bring their music to a wider audience, and to share ideas with musicians making experimental music uprooted from other cultures (and not just cheesily fused for easy listening!) |
